Make yourselve a nice .htaccess file. Do you have a ban plugin for wordpress? If yes, ban the ip + ip range.

OK, I've removed the plugin and then re-installed it, this time just using the basic protection settings. Seems to have solved the RSS problem although it isn't providing as much protection.
